2016 Maison Grand Cru

Pinot Noir

Russian River Valley

Release Notes

This new release of this 2016 Maison Grand Cru Pinot Noir has given Rütz followers a new standard and is setting the bar for years to come! In its first bottling in 1996, the wine was a blend produced with the smallest berries I have seen for some time, and was also a blend of barrels that were the most integrated three year oak dried French toast barrels we could find. Maison Grand Cru was born! With this concept of finding the smallest clusters of pinot noir through our sorting table that produced the finest clusters going into our French Vosges barrels of free run juice, this gave us a focus of producing small individual clonal lots for further blending at the final moment.

Now 20 years year later , this 2016 vintage is setting its own standard for what we have come to expect: “A soft and pleasing entry, yet a generous lush filled pallet full of black fruits, a hint of cinnamon, and a cigar flavor from the Vosges forests of France that gives way to an explosive finish that keeps you wondering in amazement!” Maison Grand Cru PN is just that: Balanced through and through to the core - and a finesse that lingers.....
